Interesting LEED neighborhood? East Brainerd?

I wouldn’t say East Brainerd would be the ideal spot for a Sustainable Community but no one asked me even though I did major in Environmental Studies and really focused on sustainability. It just seems that you would choose to place a sustainable community in an area that a) has already been disturbed b) is close enough to the city so that you could actually ride your bike/walk/use public transportation without the fear of getting hit by a car c) would be relatively close to a store/area that maintains the same/similar values as far as sustainability etc. go. Just seems like the amount of gas that will be used to go to and from such a community negates a lot of the appeal. My opinion buy a house in the Southside that has recently been built with the same values in mind. Sustainable development can also be consider buying a home already built, seems like minimal impact since it has already been built, make the necessary home energy use evaluations and correct/update as necessary.

See article in Chattanoogan here!

The Chattanooga Housing Authority is receiving a government grant for $6.3 million. Check out the article here!

The house of the day or more like week is coming a bit later. I haven’t come across one that is yet worthy of the title but we’ll get there.

Local Results

Here is yet another article about 4th quarter statistics locally. This is put of by the Chattanooga Association of Realtors. Check it out! While it does seem all doom and gloom the bright spot is that perhaps we are beginning to see the end as mentioned in a few other articles I’ve put up.

Hope all are having a great week. I’ve slacked this week with all the running around, but hopefully will get a house of the week up soon.
Again be sure to check out my listing at 2755 Applebrook Ln. Chattanooga, TN 37421. It is a great home for $135,000.

Hot cold Hot Cold

After this weekend I am beginning to believe in wintertime. I wish it would stay cold enough for that crazy rain to turn into beautiful white snow. We’ll see the next few days the forecast is calling for possible white stuff. We can at least hope can’t we?

Check out the rates today www.bankrate.com.
I feel the need to post a house I showed to some friends this weekend as the house of the day. You cannot really get a great idea of what the interior feels like from the pictures but trust me, the natural light, open floor plan, and nice big kitchen are good for the soul and spirit. 1046 Carter Dr. Chattanooga, TN 37415. This 3bd/2ba home for $229,000 is just past the Enclave in a quaint dead end subdivision.  It has an exposed stone fireplace, large windows, nice large porch, and a fenced in year. It is a wonderful location and most assuredly worth a look-see.
Be safe and warm and this beautiful winters day!

Rates again

Rates continue to drop (www.bankrate.com). Keep thinking about making that move if you are interested. Renters especially (if your credit is okay) this is the time to get in a house and get a deal. Just remember you always want to put some money down so save up.

There are some great articles on cnn.com. Take a look and just see.

I’ll post a home of the day later. There are slim pickin’s right now…

Volkswagen

As some of you know my husband has a sort of obsession with old VW trucks and buses (we are talking old 1960’s-1970’s). This has been an exciting time since as most know Chattanooga was chosen as a site for VW manufacturing. Today it was confirmed that VW does indeed intend to move forward with their plans to build the site out and continue to work towards a goal of completing the site despite economic woes throughout the nation. Here is the article.

I think this is for certainly a bright spot in Chattanooga’s economy and hope everything comes to fruition.
Above is of course a picture of our new vehicle. I’ll have to post pictures of the finished product once he has worked his magic!
